Key points for New Moon of March 10, 2024

These notes will be shared at Jane de Forest’s Moon gathering (free signup at https://www.janesinspiration.com/moon-gatherings). We meet on Zoom for every New Moon and Full Moon shortly before whatever time the New Moon or Full Moon is exact.
Typically, the east coast of the United States is only three hours ahead of the west coast. However, according to my Llewellyn’s planner, the New Moon is exact at 1:00 am Pacific time and 5:00 am Eastern time on March 10, 2024. This is because the United States switches to Daylight Saving Time at 2:00 am local time on March 10, 2024. Although we will all lose an hour of sleep when we spring forward, at least it is happening at a New Moon this time — any New Moon tends to provide a little extra energy.
Note that the chart immediately above for the New Moon in Washington, D.C., has Pluto conjunct the Ascendant and Uranus conjunct the IC. This could be an intense month for the United States.
For any location, this New Moon occurs in tandem with the Mars-Uranus square that is exact at 2:55 pm Pacific on March 9, 2024. Mars is the planet of aggression, and Uranus is the planet of surprises. To have these two planets in a stressful relationship is potentially volatile. Yasmin Boland’s Mainly Moonology podcast recently made a great and timely point: people often intentionally start a new project that they want to have some staying power at a New Moon, but you should try to avoid starting a new conflict at a New Moon because that might wind up having staying power too.
New Moon chart for Oslo, Norway
I’ve made the chart for the New Moon in Oslo, Norway, at the request of a regular attendee of Jane de Forest’s Moon gatherings who lives in Norway. Due to Norway’s far northern latitude, the chart’s houses are less equal than what one typically sees for charts in the United States.
In Oslo, the New Moon is in the 11th house. The 11th house has to do with community and friendship. It also involves the ideals and visions that unite a community or organization — what do we hope for? why are we together?
According to the Associated Press, Norway and neighboring countries Finland and Sweden hosted a NATO training exercise together earlier this month. Finland joined NATO in 2023, and Sweden just joined NATO on March 7, 2024. NATO would be a good example of the type of community represented by the 11th house.
The New Moon in the 11th house in Oslo reflects that this expansion of NATO may be significant for Norway over the next month. The Oslo chart doesn’t have anything exactly on the angles, but the Midheaven hovers about halfway between Pluto and Mars, suggesting that military matters are at least being thought about.
New Moon chart for London
Like Oslo, London also has the New Moon in the 11th house. More significantly, Pluto is very closely conjunct the Midheaven, a point associated with authority and leadership. I love reading your analysis; always gets me thinking, observing, outside my little world. When I looked at the New Moon chart for DC, I had some immediate associations. Capricorn rising--government focus. Pluto in first in Aquarius--is this our steps into the new self after our country's Pluto return crisis? The new US? The big stellium in the second shows the focus on budget--the first part of the national budget passed both chambers, funding over 6,000 departments of the government. Money time. In Pisces, I think a lot of aid to "the people," humanities and our institutions. Aid to masses of starving people? Jupiter in the third, continued foreign travel for our sec of state and others, in this world that is on edge. I never like to see Mars square Uranus, but there it is. We don't get by without some awful destructive event. Prominent.
