New Beatles song, new stuff on Tarot.com, new paid subscriber goodie
Many of the contributors in Impossible Dreams: Hopes, Fears, and Expectations for Saturn in Pisces shared vivid personal memories of the 1960s Saturn in Pisces transit. As I commented in one of my own essays there, they had the chance to hear Rubber Soul as a brand-new album, while I, born in 1986, did not.
Today, however, I actually did hear a new Beatles song for the first time. “Now and Then” was released on November 2, 2023, and I found it by phone news alert this morning.
In 1995, surviving Beatles Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr tried to play along with a home demo tape that their late bandmate John Lennon made in the 1970s. However, they were not able to finish Lennon’s song “Now and Then” at that time due to Lennon’s original recording being contaminated by a loud humming noise.
The 1960s Saturn in Pisces transit was a big time for The Beatles, marked by albums including Rubber Soul and Revolver. Saturn was in Pisces again during 1995, when the first attempt at fixing “Now and Then” was made.
One Saturn in Pisces cycle later, artificial intelligence technology was used to extract a clean version of Lennon’s vocals from the original recording so the song could be finished. The ensuing video assembled by director Peter Jackson is haunting. Harrison died in 2001, so the only Beatles currently living are McCartney and Starr, now both in their 80s. However, all four band members are intensely present in the video. It’s honestly a little creepy — but isn’t it just like Saturn in Pisces to have ghosts hanging around?

I remember Election Night in 2008. I was about a year out of college and still had some college friends in town. We were at Max’s, a bar on East 13th Avenue in Eugene, Oregon, when the election was called for Barack Obama. The whole room went up in a joyful scream.
In 2008, people needed a new leader for a new era. I see a similar vibe shaping up for 2024. Without delving deep into the charts of Donald Trump or Joe Biden, I personally would be very surprised if either of them got elected president in 2024. At this point, they’ve each had a turn in the Oval Office, and it went how it went. I don’t think the public is looking for more of the same.
