Pluto in Aquarius: Everyone Gets Promoted
New Paid Subscriber Goodies: Paper Dolls and Remote Viewing Chat!
When I have to explain astrology to someone who doesn’t know anything about it, one of the easiest things to start with is Pluto generations. For example, most people know what a baby boomer or a millennial is. This means they also know what the Pluto in Leo generation is (baby boomers) and what the Pluto in Scorpio generation is (millennials). They just might not know that they know that yet. I expand on this theme in my essay “The Next Mrs. Rod Dreher” in Impossible Dreams: Hopes, Fears, and Expectations for Saturn in Pisces.
Slow-moving Pluto does not spend the same amount of time in each zodiac sign during its 248-year cycle. However, its shifts from one sign to another seem to mark shifts from one cultural generation to another.
Of course, there’s been a lot of talk about Pluto changing sign recently. Pluto indeed moved from Capricorn into Aquarius on January 20, 2024. As described in my yearly forecast for Tarot.com, it will dip back into Capricorn from September 1, 2024, to November 19, 2024, before committing to stay in Aquarius for the next 20 years.
What does Pluto changing sign mean for Pluto generations? It means that everyone gets promoted.
I am a millennial, born in 1986 toward the older end of the Pluto in Scorpio generation. When Pluto entered Capricorn in 2008, I had just graduated from college. All four of my Pluto in Cancer grandparents were still alive. My oldest cousins, those with Pluto in Libra, had their first babies that year, but none of my other cousins had children yet.
The bulk of my cousins, like me, have Pluto in Scorpio. However, on both sides of my family, the youngest cousins have Pluto in Sagittarius. They always stood out as the “little cousins,” and I got used to thinking of them as little kids. Well, suddenly the little cousins are out of college and getting married and so on. That makes me old!
Pluto’s transit through Capricorn defined my young adulthood. During that time, three of my grandparents, as well as my father, died. Many of my Pluto in Scorpio cousins, as well as my sister, became parents.
As Pluto moves into Aquarius in 2024, everyone is simply in a different place. With rare exceptions, members of the Pluto in Leo generation no longer have their Pluto in Cancer parents around to rebel against — can they handle finally being the ultimate matriarchs and patriarchs themselves? The phrase “apex predator” mysteriously comes to mind.
The youngest members of the Pluto in Sagittarius generation, those born in 2008 as Pluto went back and forth between signs, will turn 16 this year — old enough to drive! If World War III ever gets off the ground, it will largely be fought by members of the Pluto in Sagittarius generation. The majority of them are already old enough to die for their respective countries, so we need to start thinking of them as young adults rather than kids now.
My generation, Pluto in Scorpio, needs to surrender the mantle of young adult. Whether or not our young adult years lived up to our (or our older relatives’) expectations, they are over. We are now middle-aged.
When does the millennial generation end and Generation Z begin?
I see millennials as having Pluto in Scorpio and Generation Z as having Pluto in Sagittarius. Knowing your birth date therefore gives you an exact answer as to whether you are a millennial or Generation Z.
Pluto was in Scorpio during the following dates (Pacific time zone):
November 5, 1983 - May 18, 1984
August 27, 1984 - January 17, 1995
April 20, 1995 - November 10, 1995
Pluto was in Sagittarius during the following dates:
January 17, 1995 - April 20, 1995
November 10, 1995 - January 25, 2008
June 13, 2008 - November 26, 2008
Also, a common cultural marker dividing millennials and Generation Z is whether or not you remember where you were on 9/11. This came up the last time I met with my cousins. One cousin, born in spring 1997 as I finished fifth grade, is pretty close to the line between millennial and Generation Z. However, he did not remember where he was on 9/11. I was in high school when 9/11 happened, so I definitely remember it.
February Paid Subscriber Goodie: Paper Dolls!
February’s paid subscriber goodie, which will be emailed to paid subscribers, is a set of printable paper dolls reflecting on the fashions of the Pluto in Capricorn era. I drew Millennial Matt and his friend Jon, two hypothetical Pluto in Scorpio men who were young adults during Pluto’s transit through Capricorn, myself! I thought men’s clothing would be easier to draw than women’s clothing for the time being, but I may make additional paper dolls depicting other genders and generations in subsequent months. As shown in the excerpt below, the paper dolls provide an opportunity to bid a fond farewell to trends including trucker hats and huge beards.
Additional Paid Subscriber Goodie: Remote Viewing Chat!
To increase benefits for paid subscribers, I will also begin using Substack’s chat feature with threads only for paid subscribers. I started experimenting with remote viewing back in September and then stopped because I did it so much all at once that it was interfering with my ability to write and edit. A target or two a week might be a more sustainable pace, though.
I’m going to put out one paid subscriber chat thread per week with a remote viewing target that you can use for practice. Basically, I’ll give you a target ID, and you can write and sketch whatever comes to mind for you and post your results in the paid subscriber chat. I will then reveal the results at the end of the week. I don’t have formal psychic training, so I can’t give you formal psychic training either. This is basically the equivalent of a pickup basketball game, but it should be fun!
Paid subscribers can also start chat threads, and I’d love to have paid subscribers submit remote viewing targets for others to view. That way, I get to try viewing too!
