Astrology of the McMenamins Ruby Ale
Many of my readers live near me in the Pacific Northwest and are perhaps familiar with the McMenamins chain of restaurants and hotels throughout Oregon and Washington. Since the 1980s, McMenamins has been brewing its own beers. The chain now has promotions every year for the birthdays of its most well-known beers and venues. This definitely grabs my attention as an astrologer.
McMenamins is now celebrating the 38th birthday of its Ruby Ale. I made the untimed chart for Portland, Oregon, as that’s where the McMenamins chain is headquartered.
The Ruby Ale incorporates raspberries. The Rulership Book by Rex E. Bills does not have an entry for raspberries, but it associates berries and berry trees with Jupiter. The chart of Ruby has Jupiter in Pisces, one of the signs Jupiter traditionally rules. Jupiter is trine Pluto, square Saturn, and part of a yod with Neptune and the Moon.
Close astro-twins of Ruby include Lady Gaga (March 28, 1986) and Robin Pecknold of the Fleet Foxes (March 30, 1986, as analyzed by
).For additional case studies of near astro-twins, check out my essay “The Next Mrs. Rod Dreher” in Impossible Dreams: Hopes, Fears, and Expectations for Saturn in Pisces!
