The weeks that do not have a New Moon or Full Moon to comment on are sometimes hard to fill with astrological blog content. I thought I might be able to just rant about cancel culture this week, as I seem to find that an easy target.
Yesterday, I read The Canceling of the American Mind by
and intending to review it. I did not realize how much I needed to just sit down and read someone else’s whole book in the wake of the intense push to get out my book, Changing of the Guards: Pluto on the Precipice. I’m still exhausted. I still have not sent out contributor copies like I was supposed to have done by now. I liked The Canceling of the American Mind, but I will need to think it over more before I comment in detail.Fortunately, a backup topic emerged at the last minute: Could LeBron James become the Democrats’ nominee for the 2028 presidential election? Freddie deBoer explored this possibility in a post for paid subscribers, noting that the Republicans similarly thought outside the box when they picked Donald Trump in 2016.
Although James does not have formal political experience, deBoer pointed out that James has shown leadership throughout his basketball career, as well as in his business and charitable efforts. DeBoer also noted that James might help the Democratic Party attract the support of young men.
Of course, astrologers have their own way of analyzing politics. We look at the ongoing cycles of the planets to see what type of leader the moment calls for, and then we compare that with the birth charts of candidates to see whose natal energy best matches the energy of the moment.
When the 2028 election takes place, Pluto will be in Aquarius, and Neptune will be in Aries. Aquarius leans toward decentralized efforts and autodidacts rather than formal training and authority. As The Canceling of the American Mind pointed out, various pronouncements heavy-handedly delivered by experts during the COVID-19 pandemic, while Pluto was in Capricorn, turned out to be incorrect, causing the public’s faith in experts to crumble. In the aftermath of all that, some might find a leader from outside the political system appealing. Wikipedia’s current list of Republican and Democratic politicians being considered for the 2028 presidential election just looks like more of the unfulfilling same.
Meanwhile, Neptune, the planet of what we idealize, will be in Aries, the sign of the athlete. That could make it plausible for an athlete to rise to political prominence. In an interesting bit of mutual reception, the astrology chart of LeBron James has Mars, the ruler of Aries, conjunct the Midheaven in Pisces, the sign Neptune rules.
The Midheaven of one’s astrological chart speaks to one’s purpose in life. It typically takes in one’s career or what one is publicly known for. Having Mars conjunct his Midheaven makes sense for James being known as an athlete. However, as deBoer mentioned, James is approaching an age when athletes typically retire.
At the time of the 2028 election, James will be almost 44 years old. He will therefore be experiencing the midlife crisis astrological transits that everyone experiences in their early forties: transiting Saturn opposite natal Saturn, transiting Uranus opposite natal Uranus, and transiting Neptune square natal Neptune.
In James’s astrological chart with a known birth time, which I got from Astro-Databank, he has both Saturn and Uranus in the 6th house. The 6th house speaks to the practical concerns of daily life, so having his natal 6th house placements triggered by his midlife crisis transits around the time of the 2028 election could help James convince voters that he will improve the material conditions of their daily lives in a quantifiable way.
James was born with a Mercury-Uranus conjunction in Sagittarius in the 6th house, so transiting Uranus will oppose his natal Mercury at the same time it opposes his natal Uranus. He could then come up with some genuinely innovative solutions pertaining to 6th house issues like workers’ concerns and healthcare. Even if he does not seek or obtain political office, he might pursue such solutions through his charitable efforts.
This potentially isn’t as crazy as it sounds. Thanks for the interesting idea, Freddie deBoer!

, Time to Make Something New! Mars Opposes Pluto, New Moon in Taurus, & a 3-Card Spread: What to Embrace, to Accept, and to Release.AstroMommy got a unique hit for me in her comments concerning the morning of April 27:
I have found that during a Moon/Pluto square, either my children, my husband, or another family member will bring something up that is bothering them that is accusatory, and all of a sudden, they want to talk about it and tell me why they are mad, disappointed, or upset.
I slept in that morning, so the square between the Moon in Taurus and Pluto in Aquarius took place while I was still sleeping, but I had a dream that morning where a family member brought up a grievance against me in that way.
, Suspicious MovementsWith regard to the final occurrence of the Mars-Pluto opposition on April 26, Sommer analyzes the following quote by Darryl Cooper: "The devil moves in crowds, and God tends to move through us."
, ΠρομηθεύςZahrt comments on a potentially productive stretch of time between April 28 and May 3. Zahrt gets extra credit for using the word “Gesamtkunstwerk,” a word I learned while editing L.P. Streitfeld’s piece “Aquarian Gesamtkunstwerk: Co-Creating the Aquarian Icon into Being, 1997-2024” for Changing of the Guards: Pluto on the Precipice.
, Taurus New MoonL.P. Streitfeld looks at the April 27 New Moon in Taurus, which was intensified by Black Moon Lilith in Scorpio forming a Grand Cross with Pluto in Aquarius, the Sun + Moon in Taurus, and Mars in Leo.

Man - the Dems can sure pick 'em. I'm not sure how LeBron will fare amidst all the fallout from the Diddy trial. Not that allegations like that ever stopped anyone's run for the Whitehouse, mind :/
Wow, that is wild that you had a dream that corresponded to the transit energy! That happened to me just yesterday when I had a dream that I was a hero saving someone from euthanasia during Venus's conjunction to Neptune in Aries, which I feel really romanticizes the Aries archetypal qualities of heroism! Thanks so much for the shout-out, and I loved hearing about your dream.
Very interesting analysis of Lebron James' chart...I wonder....hmmm...definitely something to chew on! :D
