The biggest news of the past week is that President Joe Biden withdrew from the 2024 presidential race and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris to take his place as the Democratic nominee. Many writers selected for today’s edition of Hot on Substack provide astrological takes on this story.
In the interest of full disclosure, I will win a small bet on MyBookie if Harris receives the Democratic nomination and another small bet on MyBookie if Harris is elected president.
I started an account on gambling website MyBookie in spring 2021 when I got involved in a Facebook discussion about the astrology of the Ever Given, a ship that was then stuck in the Suez Canal. I discovered that MyBookie allowed you to place bets on when the ship would become unstuck. At the time, Jupiter was transiting my 5th house, so I wanted to put money on my astrological speculations.
The other big non-sports contest then active on MyBookie was the name of the not-yet-born second child of Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex. I figured that was a job for name asteroids, so I ran all the contenders MyBookie provided on a Harry/Meghan biwheel. I bet on Ruby. As I noted in a Facebook group post, “Meghan’s 5th house cusp is Scorpio, ruler of that is Mars, and Meghan has Mars conjunct Ruby. Meghan’s Mars-Ruby conjunction is tightly conjunct Harry’s Descendant.”
Harry and Meghan wound up naming their daughter Lilibet, which was not one of the contenders MyBookie provided, so I didn’t win anything. I didn’t win anything regarding the Ever Given either.
However, because I was an active MyBookie customer, MyBookie gave me $20 free play for my birthday in August 2022. I therefore bet $10 on Harris as the 2024 Democratic nominee and $10 on Harris as the winner of the 2024 presidential election.
I didn’t say in my diary at the time why I picked Harris. Thinking about it now, though, I participated in a few group prediction events led by professional intuitive Jeanne Mayell in 2020 and 2021. At Mayell’s February 2021 event, she had us look at the 2025 presidential inauguration, and the data I submitted was, “For the 2025 inauguration, Kamala Harris won, but no one is happy. She is stuck with a bad situation that is not really her fault.” That might have been ringing in my head when I placed my August 2022 MyBookie bets. I enjoy developing my intuitive skills when I get the chance, but I would not say they are the final word on the subject at this point. We will see what happens!
Hot on Substack
Hot on Substack is at least in part a strategy to recruit writers for my essay anthologies — see the new call for essays that went out earlier this week.
, Stick a fork in meWhite writes on the need to be cautious when getting involved with people who claim to be spiritual practitioners. She cites the example of Kat Torres, who was sentenced to prison earlier this month for human trafficking. This is a very Saturn in Pisces lesson — the alternative spirituality world is not formally regulated, so consumers must use their own discernment.
, The AI Phenomenon and Astrological Transits: A Personal PerspectiveLindon points out that a computer programming language named Algol is closely linked to artificial intelligence. In astrology, names are meaningful, and Algol is, of course, the name of a fixed star associated with violence.
According to Wikipedia, the programming language ALGOL, short for “Algorithmic Language,” was first developed at a meeting in 1958. The untimed chart for the first day of the meeting is shown below. Note that the nodes of the chart are at 0° Scorpio/Taurus. Transiting Pluto, going back and forth over 0° Aquarius, is now squaring those nodes, and perhaps that is part of the reason why artificial intelligence is currently getting a lot of attention.
Posts on the topic of Joe Biden dropping out of the 2024 presidential race
, Lunar News: Full Moon in CapricornThis post does not explicitly mention Biden’s decision to drop out because the post was made prior to his announcement. (I received the email at 4:05 am Pacific on July 21, and then Biden’s announcement came later in the day on July 21.) However, it covers the July 21 Full Moon and other astrological factors active at the time of the announcement.

Will Hillary Clinton be the Democratic nominee?
Alex Jones and others in the right-wing conspiracy space are currently claiming that Hillary Clinton will be the Democratic nominee rather than Kamala Harris. My immediate reaction was that that’s ridiculous. However, USA Today has reported on the possibility, so I might as well look at the chart.
Astro-Databank’s page on Hillary Clinton provides an image of her birth certificate showing a 6:45 pm birth time, so it says the birth time is rated AA. Meanwhile, the “Source Notes” section of the page speculates about a wide variety of other potential birth times.
A 2023 episode of The Astrology Podcast addresses the ambiguity surrounding Hillary Clinton’s birth time. According to the episode’s transcript, although the 2023 release of her birth certificate quelled some of the speculation that had gone on before that, it introduced new speculation over whether the handwritten numbers said 6:45 pm or 10:45 pm.
As described in Weekend Entertainment Guide 7/12/24, I see the Democratic National Convention being defined by the square between Jupiter at 17° Gemini and Saturn at 17° Pisces. Aside from the Ascendant of 11° Gemini, which comes from the 6:45 pm birth time, Hillary Clinton’s only placements in the mutable signs are Uranus at 25° Gemini and the Moon at 28° Pisces, not in a very close orb with the transiting Jupiter-Saturn square. Kamala Harris and Gavin Newsom both have much closer connections with the transiting Jupiter-Saturn square.
Meanwhile, transiting Neptune is conjoining Hillary Clinton’s natal Moon near the end of Pisces. The exact hits take place on the following dates: April 18, 2024; September 20, 2024; and February 18, 2025. The natal Moon in Pisces can be spacey to begin with, and a transit from Neptune would probably only intensify that effect.
I don’t see the energy being there for a presidential run. Overall, I still stand by my comments from Weekend Entertainment Guide 5/31/24:
Pluto is currently in the process of changing signs from Capricorn to Aquarius. Neptune and Uranus will both change signs over the next couple of years. This is NEW energy, not the energy of an 80-year-old hated by half the country who keeps us mired in the same old conflicts — and the latter describes Trump and Biden roughly equally well.
It also describes Hillary Clinton about as well as it describes Trump or Biden. She is a little over a year younger than Trump, due to turn 77 this fall. Even though Hillary Clinton never served as president of the United States, she has been the first lady, the secretary of state, and a United States senator. She did not live a life wholly devoid of power — she has a strong reputation as a powerful figure in an era that is now coming to an end.
Update on grocery merger
A previous post discussed the proposed merger between the Albertsons and Kroger grocery chains. Albertsons is owned by Cerberus Capital Management, and Cerberus has a name asteroid. At this time, the merger is on hold pending a September 30 court date in Colorado, according to Legal Dive. On September 30, the transiting asteroid Cerberus will be around 16° Leo.
Wow loving this, brilliantly done! Thanks so much for the mention Eva and the additional insight on ALGOL. I'm off to check out the betting site you mentioned 😀
Brilliant. So much to think about. On the fantastical rumors of Hillary running, much less winning, in all logic that is fantastical. I always think, too, about her karma of having the two malefics in her chart: Saturn conjunct Mars. Seems like they were always going to jinx her.
