With the current Mercury Retrograde in Sagittarius and approaching Mars Retrograde in Leo, life may be taking a slower pace — time to enjoy some music and art!
Uranus comes around for The Wizard of Oz
recently pointed out on Substack Notes, “very fitting that the WIZARD OF OZ film (1939) is having its uranus return at the same time one of its descendant stories, WICKED, gets adapted to film.” Uranus is the planet of technology and innovation; unfortunately, innovators don’t always get things right the first time. Newsweek just detailed new information coming to light on illnesses and injuries suffered by actors in The Wizard of Oz as a result of primitive special effects gone wrong.Pantone Color of the Year 2025: Mocha Mousse
On December 5, 2024, color authority Pantone announced its Color of the Year for 2025: Mocha Mousse.
Sometimes Pantone’s Color of the Year really makes sense astrologically — in 2022, Very Peri felt right for the fantastical vibe of Jupiter conjunct Neptune in Pisces. Another big hit was 2016, when Pantone picked two Colors of the Year, Rose Quartz (pink) and Serenity (blue); Jupiter entered Libra in September 2016, and a list of zodiac sign colors by Tarot.com staff writers says the colors of Libra are pink and blue.
Mocha Mousse, a light brown, is a less obvious match for the astrology of 2025, though. Brown screams Earth sign (the Tarot.com list assigns it to Virgo and Capricorn), but that’s what will be the least represented in the astrology of 2025. Uranus will be going back and forth between Taurus and Gemini, and the South Node will be in Virgo — that’s it, in terms of the cycles of Jupiter and beyond.
In “The Story of Color of the Year 2025,” Laurie Pressman, Vice President of the Pantone Color Institute, stated:
Characterized by its organic nature, PANTONE 17-1230 Mocha Mousse honors and embraces the sustenance of our physical environment. Synchronizing with nature promotes balance, nourishes our soul, and positively impacts our mental well-being. Imbued with authenticity, PANTONE 17-1230 Mocha Mousse finds harmony and balance between the demands of modernity and the timeless beauty of artful creation.
In a roundabout way, some of this could potentially refer to the North Node, Saturn, and Neptune all emphasizing the transition between Pisces and Aries throughout 2025. Even though Aries isn’t an Earth sign, it’s the beginning of a new cycle, so it ultimately has to build from the ground up!

, The Forbidden Fruit of Politically Volatile DickThis is a non-astrological post, but it captures a phenomenon that makes sense astrologically. People currently in their late teens and twenties, Zoomers or members of Generation Z, are known to astrologers as the Pluto in Sagittarius generation. Sagittarius is a sign associated with one’s opinions on politics and religion, and Pluto, the planet of obsession and control, adds intensity to that subject for the Pluto in Sagittarius generation. As Slate has reported, Generation Z is deeply divided by gender on politics and religion — Zoomer women are politically liberal and reject conventional religion (though I suspect many of them find their way to the alternative spirituality scene), while their male counterparts embrace conservatism in both politics and religion. Anyway, Katherine Dee points out that some might actually find this political gulf erotic!

South Node in Libra case study: Bruce Springsteen and “For You”
The Moon’s Nodes are currently nearing the end of their time in Aries (North Node) and Libra (South Node). Using the True Node, we will start having the North Node in Pisces and South Node in Virgo on January 11, 2025.
The South Node, moving backward through Libra, is now pretty close to Bruce Springsteen’s Sun at the very beginning of Libra. Springsteen also has the natal South Node later in Libra. I think his song “For You,” which I have recently become fascinated with, is especially illustrative of relationship dynamics that can happen with the South Node in Libra.
Bruce Springsteen and Radiohead’s Thom Yorke both have the Sun, the South Node, and more in Libra — Springsteen is one nodal cycle older than Yorke, and then Yorke is one nodal cycle older than me. The ethereal, airy quality to Yorke’s voice is well known, but you can hear it in Springsteen too. I first figured that out listening to “The Promised Land” on Springsteen’s album Darkness on the Edge of Town.
I’m reminded of comments
made about Libra and androgyny. I probably enjoy both Springsteen and Yorke because I have Venus conjunct the Ascendant in Libra interacting with their Libra placements. The higher end of their vocal ranges overlaps well with the lower end of mine, making it easier for me as a woman to sing along — androgyny, yes.Brucebase Wiki reports that “For You” was first recorded “on February 14, 1972 at Pocketful of Tunes, 39 West 55th Street, New York, NY, at the audition for Mike Appel and Jim Cretecos.” The song then appeared on Springsteen’s debut album, Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J., which was released on January 5, 1973.
All of this happened shortly after transiting Pluto in Libra conjoined Springsteen’s natal Sun at the very beginning of Libra. “For You” is a great description of what that transit might have been like.
Pluto in any sign pushes even that sign’s most beneficial qualities to their limit. “For You” tells the story of a man attempting to help a troubled female partner and ultimately coming to question whether his efforts made her any better. The positive side of Libra includes care for others and an interest in building harmonious relationships. With Pluto in the mix, however, perhaps one’s best is never quite good enough for the other person.
The chorus goes:
I came for you, for you, I came for you, but you did not need my urgency
I came for you, for you, I came for you, but your life was one long emergency
and your cloud line urges me, and my electric surges free
“My electric surges free” is interesting. From my perspective as someone who also has the South Node in Libra, I think it describes a situation where your devotion to another person gives you the energy and drive to pursue some grand achievement that you wouldn’t pursue for yourself. This dynamic doesn’t have to be a bad thing — maybe it is better to discover your heroic side under this sort of circumstance than to not discover it at all. However, it definitely has the potential to be abused.
Love the color breakdown you included with the mundane astrology. Color is such an intrinsic part of this practice! Thank you for the shout out, too:)
Regarding the aspects for "Very Peri" and then the color announcement by Pantone now, I can't help but think how during Saturns sojourn through Pisces in the 60s, TV brought us color! The Wide World of Color on Disney shows.
