I had to laugh ruefully at your joke about Hindus getting involved with the red heifer debacle. What a crazy mess already… That would make it even wilder! (We need a “lol-sob” emoji!)

Hey, Jupiter-Uranus, anything can happen!

Thanks for your comments Eva on my narcissism/Tesla post. An interesting take. Yes i agree that there are different faces of narcissism, although my blog’s starting point is the performing/ charismatic face. Im not sure which planetary associations this group have (marilyn, brando etc)?

Charisma and performance tend to be associated with the sun. Just as the sun is the literal center of our solar system, people with strong, astrological suns tend to enjoy being the center of attention, and they make excellent performers.

As far as narcissism, I haven’t done an extensive study on it astrologically, but I have noticed a few narcissists who have Jupiter conjunct Venus. Jupiter the gas giant expands what it touches, and Venus, goddess of seduction and desire, is able to charm anyone to do what she wants with the mere power of her presence. Narcissists often have a hypnotic, reality-bending presence to them.

It would be an interesting thing to study astrologically. Though I suspect that narcissism has more to do with how the natives handle the chart they were born with, than being fated to it completely. (That is my philosophical bias showing…)

I'm going to reply to Marcus in more detail later, but just briefly, I can think of someone who was in my personal life who had a Venus-Jupiter conjunction. How I thought that played out for her was that she was always able to get herself out of whatever scrape she got herself into, to a point that she never had to learn from her mistakes. It protected her from consequences. As a result, she as someone over 60 reminded me a lot of myself at age 18-19 in how she treated people. I got in trouble for certain mistakes as a teenager and had to learn from them, which was hard but made me a better person. She apparently made the same mistakes and didn't get in trouble for them.

Interesting. Aged 22, working in a forensic psychiatric unit, one of the first things i was taught about people with personality disorders, was that they do not learn from mistakes. I didnt hear it again for years until i started studying narcissism in particular. According to theory, if we cannot tolerate shame in the smallest dose, (because it has not been safe to do so), then we lose the benefits of shame in our life. One benefit is learning from mistakes.

Marcus, I think I will have to write a longer post at some point where I look at the astrological charts of some of the people you've profiled and test my working theory on astrology/narcissism. Astrologers separate the luminaries + personal planets (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars) from the outer planets (Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto). The first group is focused on one's personal life, and the second group has to do with bigger collective issues. My suspicion is that narcissism is a possibility if the Sun, Moon, or a personal planet is in a difficult configuration with one of the outer planets. This would fit with narcissism tending to present as larger than life. Sometimes it is necessary for people to act on a big scale, but it is hard to do that well. Anyway, I will definitely tag you when I write this up in more detail.
