Eclipse season is finally behind us, and perhaps we are transformed. Expect some reveals to start dropping after Mercury stations direct on April 7.
McMorrow seeks US Senate seat
It’s super weird to suddenly be old enough that people my own age are plausible candidates for major political offices. Mallory McMorrow, who spoke at the 2024 Democratic National Convention as a Michigan state senator, has announced that she will run for Michigan’s open US Senate seat in the 2026 election. McMorrow is 11 days younger than I am.
McMorrow’s birth time is not publicly known, so her Sun sign could be Leo or Virgo — a 12 a.m. chart run for her known place of birth has Sun 29°44’ Leo. Either way, she definitely has Mercury in Leo, which makes sense for her flamboyant rhetorical style.
The South Node will move over McMorrow’s Sun on the Leo/Virgo cusp shortly before the 2026 election, which isn’t great for her vitality. However, I don’t think it will be a quiet campaign as transiting Uranus in early Gemini forms a T-square with her natal square between the Sun and Saturn. Transiting Jupiter in Leo will also conjoin her Mercury in Leo during September 2026, potentially leading to a memorable debate performance. Interestingly, 2026’s transiting Saturn-Neptune conjunction at 0° Aries will form a yod with her natal Sun-Pluto sextile.
Astrologer Alan Lin has written about relationships between natal chart placements and political ideology. In Lin’s writing, connections between Venus and the nodes speak to economic views, while connections between the Moon and the nodes speak to cultural views.
McMorrow has Venus conjunct the South Node, which Lin connects with leftist or government-interventionist economic views. This makes sense for her being a Democrat. The effect could potentially be intensified with McMorrow’s South Node being in Venus-ruled Libra.
McMorrow also has the Moon conjunct the North Node, which Lin connects with cultural conservatism. This is not such an easy fit, as McMorrow is openly supportive of LGBTQ rights and abortion rights. However, as shown in the following excerpt from a speech she gave in the Michigan state senate, the way in which she advocates for such things is conservative, especially in relation to the current image of the Democratic Party:
"I am the biggest threat to your hollow, hateful scheme. Because you can't claim that you are targeting marginalized kids in the name of 'parental rights' if another parent is standing up to say no. You say, 'She's a groomer. She supports pedophilia. She wants children to believe that they were responsible for slavery and to feel bad about themselves because they're white.' I am a straight, white, Christian, married, suburban mom who knows that the very notion that learning about slavery or redlining or systemic racism somehow means that children are being taught to feel bad or hate themselves because they are white is absolute nonsense.”

My journey into self-publishing happened under similar circumstances. Sometimes I have been told I do things for the wrong reasons.
