I love your contemplations. Perhaps the Saturn / Neptune conjunction will bring into collective awareness that *we* as an individual are responsible for how we respond internally to others’ opinions and process. That’s the cue for self reflection. It’s never about “them”, it’s about our self and how we are inspired to act upon what inspires us —even if it’s initiated by a difference in opinion or life experience. Saturn/ Neptune in Aries may be the beginning of the collective learning to mature in taking our individual power back by remembering it’s always at the end of the day a journey of self reflection and self awareness. And when we have something “opposing” to share we don’t have to separate ourselves from others, we can communicate in ways that remembers that we are connected and give each other the opportunity to learn and expand with each other, through variety and different ways of looking at things. I know for me I want to know the real person underneath, not the one using pleasing tactics to cover themselves. I want truth and we all get there faster when we can mature and take responsibility for our own truth and not need others to validate it. Making it safe for others to be authentic because that’s where the real value in life comes from.
I think boundary issues around where do I end and you begin will be absolutely key at the upcoming Saturn-Neptune conjunction. Saturn is boundaries and responsibility, and so when Saturn-Neptune goes wrong, like at the 2015-2016 waning square I described, Neptune can completely dissolve boundaries and responsibility.
We are connected, and we are separate. Both are true. I have never liked the saying "You're responsible for your own feelings" because I don't think it is that simple. I think there is such a thing as words that cause pain.
But maybe we would be better off collectively acknowledging that sometimes one person's needs/desires conflict with another person's needs/desires to a point that words that cause pain are necessary. We don't have to tell people that their pain is self-created, because I think that just compounds the pain, but just admitting that this sort of pain is a normal part of life might help a lot! The whole drama around trying to avoid pain and failing to avoid pain is sometimes more painful than the pain itself.
I sometimes read online material related to the issue of neurodiversity. One positive thing that has come out of the neurodiversity movement is that it empowers people to ask for things they need to feel comfortable in the world, such as "I need quiet to focus," or "I need background music on really loud to focus." I think we all have personal things we need to feel comfortable, whether or not we qualify as having any particular diagnosis, so good for those who do have diagnoses for paving this road for everyone.
However, you don't want "I need quiet to focus" and "I need background music on really loud to focus" to wind up being roommates with each other. That's called "clashing sensory needs."
There are a few issues that come down to absolute right and wrong, but there are probably fewer of those issues than people think. One path to peace at the coming Saturn-Neptune conjunction might involve trying, when possible, to see conflicts as clashing needs/desires rather than as right versus wrong.
I agree. I don’t think we are all designed the same, thankfully, as it gives a broader scope of creation and creativity ultimately. We expand and learn through the differences and honoring them as well.
You have never striked me as an underachiever in anyway. Nothing wrong with being a little cautious in this world. Sometimes the best layed plans have to be postponed until the timing is just right 😊
I truly appreciate the mention in this weeks Weekend Entertainment Guide. What a great honour to be along side you sharing such a personal experience 💛
I believe there are no mistakes, only experiences; thus, you experienced your decision not to publish based on 'reading the room'. Sometimes it's wise to flow with the current, and at others making our way to the shore is more beneficial.
I have always been opposed to censorship based on perception rather than reality, which I feel the poster incident was. Now, if it had been someone standing in the reserve holding a gun that would be different. But it wasn't. It was a viewer attributing their personal perception to an incident deeply disturbing them. The poster was a means of triggering that incident. But, rather than do something proactive that may have actually helped the cause, such as counter posters or write-ups, they chose instead to have the trigger removed.
It's happening all over our country from this "red wave" we're experiencing in the attempts to erase history. Maybe it will wake us all up. Maybe it won't. But being proactive where truth is concerned is certainly worth the effort.
No one wants to be the jerk who says, "Stop crying, or I'll give you something to cry about." I do seriously hope that the current "red wave" encourages some on the left to grow a sense of perspective, though. I think they alienated a lot of people who would otherwise have been on their side with stuff like the Cowboy Poster Incident.
What a shame that you stifled yourself in this way. My guess is, you are not the only one. One of the downsides of social media is how it is used to squash anything and everything that a single person may feel “triggered” by. Intentional or not, this has been a theme of the times. It will pass. May you will feel safe writing fiction some day in the future
Right, the scary part is that I am probably not the only one. We may know the names of the authors who have been targeted for one reason or another, but we may never know who saw all the craziness and just got out of there before they had a chance to be targeted.
Social media probably does play a part in making it easy for people with grievances to find each other. In the past, a person who saw something they didn't like might complain to a friend or two, but it would peter out after that instead of mushrooming into a big pile-on. With social media, I think people sometimes feel obligated to be offended by whatever they see someone else getting loudly upset about — if they don't perform offendedness, the mob might turn on them next! Over time, it may become difficult to tell whose feelings are whose; this sort of dissolution of individual boundaries could be very Saturn-Neptune.
Putting the whole thing in the context of the Saturn-Neptune cycle was helpful for me, in that it helped me see larger meaning and purpose in this drama I got caught up in. The silver lining is that, in leaving fiction writing, I ultimately found that astrological writing was a better fit for me. I was starting to get into astrology during my fiction writer years, though, to the point I was able to turn my old novel into an astrology book when I dumped it on Amazon. I don't know if you ever got into persona charts, but I found the persona charts on Astro.com and used my Moon Persona chart as the basis for the protagonist of a novel — I think I've seen you put out some fiction stuff before, so that might be interesting for you to play with.
Most of my fictional characters are based on natal charts. Sometimes my own, often someone else. Usually famous people. I feel it helps make them more believable and more diverse. If I didn’t pattern my characters on other people’s charts, they might all end up being reflections of myself. Who wants that? lol.
As for social media, there is a lot of virtue signaling. It seems that many feel a need to show they agree with what they perceive to be the popular stance, while others simply stifle themselves. Of course, some just say what they really feel and don’t care what anyone thinks. These are the minority. But yeah, a lot of people choose not to say anything, that is why certain groups or sites seem so one sided.
True, a lot of people choose not to say anything, which makes the political idea of the "silent majority" such a powerful force.
I just looked up silent majority, and the Wikipedia article "Silent majority" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silent_majority) talks about the most famous uses of the term coming from Richard Nixon in 1969 and Calvin Coolidge in 1919.
So at these Saturn-Neptune moments, I would see Neptune as the most passionately demonstrative side of whatever battle, while Saturn is whoever feels like they need to keep their head down and shut up. The Neptune side may have valid grievances, but suppressing the Saturn side too hard definitely has its risks!
Neptune in Scorpio would surely be passionate. When I think of Neptune, the first thing that comes to mind is illusion. Maybe the illusion of “the majority.” Interesting topic to explore
Oh, great point on the illusion of the majority — when one side is super over the top passionate, it can be easy for both them and everyone else to assume that they are in the majority.
Well said. Contrast and challenges reveal more about what we don't want than pleasure does what we do. Or at least it's more common. I've just begun studying that conjunction, particularly the history, which I always find fascinating.

I totally respect and love you. The world is a better place with you putting yourself out there.
Thank you for your support!
Very relatable.
