The first part of October was marked by a grand trine between Mars in Cancer, Venus in Scorpio, and Saturn in Pisces. As Mars and Venus move away from aspecting Saturn and toward aspecting Neptune later on in Pisces, the feelings are really starting to flow.

Kennedy update
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. just lost his mother, Ethel Kennedy. I noted back in August that Kennedy had intense Mars transits during October. At that time, Kennedy had not yet suspended his presidential campaign, so I thought the Mars energy would be channeled into his presidential campaign. Now, however, it’s likely that family matters will be demanding his attention. His father died in 1968, so he and his siblings — some of whom have publicly disagreed with his political activities — will probably have an estate to split up. I do not know the time of Ethel Kennedy’s death, but I estimated 8 am because multiple Kennedy family members said on X that she died in the morning.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. currently has Saturn transiting his 8th house, which could fit with dividing up family resources and going forward with more separation than there was before. All of this might understandably provoke depression as transiting Pluto conjoins his natal Mercury.
USA’s Neptune conjunct Midheaven line: Astrocartography explains Hurricane Helene, Hurricane Milton, and East Palestine
Helena Woods pointed out in a YouTube short that the Neptune line on the astrocartography map for the United States goes through Tampa, Florida, where Hurricane Milton struck. She connected this to the September 2024 Lunar Eclipse in Pisces, which opposed the United States’s natal Neptune in Virgo. She also noted that the Neptune line crosses the Uranus line near Asheville, North Carolina, accounting for the unexpected devastation Hurricane Helene caused there.
Where do astrocartography lines come from? What Woods refers to as the Neptune line is actually the Neptune conjunct Midheaven line. An astrocartography line has both a planet and an angle. The Sibly chart for the United States, birthed in Philadelphia at 5:10 pm on July 4, 1776, has Neptune at 22° Virgo and the Midheaven at 1° Libra. Neptune is solidly in the ninth house, nine degrees away from the Midheaven. However, if the signers of the Declaration of Independence had gathered at the same moment but a bit further west, they could have had a chart with Neptune exactly conjunct the Midheaven. Locations that would have given them that result are indicated by the Neptune conjunct Midheaven line.
As Woods indicated, the Neptune conjunct Midheaven and Uranus conjunct Descendant lines indeed cross near Western North Carolina, and I agree with her logic that the recent Lunar Eclipse opposing the Sibly chart’s natal Neptune could have played a part in triggering events along the Neptune conjunct Midheaven line.
I took a look at a different section of the Neptune conjunct Midheaven line on February 14, 2023. As I posted in a Facebook group at that time:
The Great Lakes area of the United States has recently been hit by some disturbing events. East Palestine, Ohio, on the eastern edge of Ohio near the border with Pennsylvania, suffered a serious chemical spill on Feb. 3. Then, on Feb. 13, there was a shooting at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan.
I therefore ran the astrocartography for the USA Sibley Chart on the map of the Great Lakes area. East Palestine, Ohio, is between the Uranus-DC line and the Neptune-MC line. East Lansing, Michigan, is on the west side of the Neptune-MC line.
Both Uranus and Neptune in the Sibley chart have been under stress lately. Transiting Mars, due to the long Mars Retrograde in Gemini, has repeatedly hit the Sibley chart's Uranus in Gemini. Meanwhile, transiting Neptune in Pisces has been opposing natal Neptune in Virgo for a while.
The question I sought to answer by using astrocartography was, why did these events happen in the Great Lakes area and not in Oregon or wherever else?
One more event: On Feb. 12, an object was shot down over Lake Huron, which the Sibley chart's Neptune-MC line goes right through.
I have since learned how to spell Sibly. Also since then, Ohio has been in the news again. This time around, there is controversy about Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio. Springfield is too small to appear on the map excerpt, but it is just northeast of Dayton, Ohio.
What all of these events near the Neptune conjunct Midheaven line — the East Palestine train derailment, Hurricane Helene, Hurricane Milton, and the influx of Haitian immigrants in Ohio — have had in common is a lot of odd stories swirling around them. It has been difficult for people to tell what is fact and what is fiction. Unfortunately, you can’t get more Neptunian than that!
Oregon’s Neptune return
My home state of Oregon is not anywhere near the Sibly chart’s Neptune conjunct Midheaven line. Although there has been chatter for the past decade or so about the potential for a big earthquake to cause a destructive tsunami here, we are fortunate that nothing like that has actually happened. Perhaps our distance from the Neptune conjunct Midheaven line has protected us from the worst water has to offer.
I think we have had a rough last few years for other reasons, though. Oregon was established when the United States had its first Neptune opposition. When the United States recently had its second Neptune opposition, Oregon had its first Neptune return. According to a Solar Fire report, the exact hits of Oregon’s Neptune return in Pisces took place March 30, 2022; October 4, 2022; and January 29, 2023.
We were not tested with physical water. Instead, our belief in our own compassionate nature was challenged. An epidemic of visible homelessness seemed to absolutely explode, and it was hard to know what to do about it.
At this point, as the Neptune return is finally separating, glimmers of hope are visible. The Junior League of Eugene, Oregon, is now focusing its efforts on homeless and at-risk youth, supporting local organizations such as Spark at Booth Kelly and Hosea Youth Services. As Hosea Youth Services states:
We all know that homelessness in our area, the West Coast, and in our country is a significant very significant issue. We are striving to “catch” our young people now, to provide the support and services they need to work through their barriers and get to a place where they can take care of themselves. The road to a life of health and purpose is long and hard, and we must do all we can to come alongside and show them a pathway out.
The Junior League of Eugene is currently running a fall fundraising drive to increase its impact on homeless and at-risk youth in the Eugene, Oregon, area. Please donate here if you can (and, when asked which Junior League member you are donating on behalf of, enter “Eva Sylwester” for internal tracking purposes). Thank you!
